The LACOBA Marathon
An annual road race organized by LACOBA with the explicit goal of reawakening academic performance at traditional schools across the Acholi subregion. Now in its fourth edition and counting, it has grown into one of Gulu's most visible community fundraisers, drawing public backing from Gulu City Mayor Alfred Okwonga and Gulu City Woman MP Hon. Betty Aol Ocan. LACOBA Chairperson Kinyera Chris Allan has described the race's purpose as helping to reawaken the academic performance of traditional schools across the subregion, alongside the mentorship, career guidance, and savings club work LACOBA runs the rest of the year.

One Million Trees, Acholi Subregion
A tree planting pledge undertaken with backing from Gulu City's leadership, Mayor Alfred Okwonga has publicly committed the city's support, aimed at restoring green cover across the Acholi subregion. It's one of LACOBA's clearest examples of the "Community" cornerstone reaching beyond the school gates, echoing the message Woman MP Hon. Betty Aol Ocan gave old students: know the gap left by the decline of the region's traditional schools, and help close it.

Savings Clubs
Savings clubs run by members give old boys a structured way to build financial resilience for their own families, and to extend support to vulnerable members of the LACOBA fraternity. The model follows advice Gulu City leadership has given old students' associations directly: form cooperative and investment groups, save collectively, and reinvest, a practical route to fighting poverty across the subregion.
